My name is Lauren McDonnell. My family and I live in the Netherlands after moving from the US. I also lived in Canada for a year when I was in my 30s.
A couple of years ago, you could have looked at my life on paper, and I was literally living a life that most people would look at and say, wow, she has it all. Married, with 3 kids, a big house, nice car, vacations, a big job with a fancy title.
And even with all of that, I still felt unfulfilled, like it still wasn’t what I truly wanted deep down. I was depressed and anxious, relying on medication, and I wasn’t taking care of myself. I felt stuck and was isolating myself.
And thankfully I was able to find my way out. With a lot of work on myself, prioritizing how I communicated what I wanted and needed out of life, and taking a leap by moving our family from the US to the Netherlands.
We have a wonderful community around us, are learning a new language, are getting to travel all over Europe and experience different cultures, and are becoming global citizens.
Now, I’ve created She Thrives Abroad to help other women do exactly the same thing - Move abroad and live the life of their dreams.

"What would Lauren do?"
You are such a strong, insightful, smart, collaborative and caring person. I have learned from you, been inspired by you, and tried to channel your calm and "let it roll off your shoulders" attitude as much as possible and will continue to do so in your spirit! I swear I have said many a times to myself "what would Lauren do?" lol!

"Incredible source of guidance"
Some people have a way of making everything and everyone around them better, and you are undoubtedly one of those people. Thank you for being such an incredible source of guidance, support, and inspiration in my life.
You've gone above and beyond, not just in the work you do but in the way you make things easier for everyone around you. Your ability to bring joy, light, and positivity to every call, even amidst challenges, is something I'll always admire.
I've been lucky to have had many mentors, but you've been a true role model - someone who practices everything you say.
The way you navigate life- taking the road less travelled with so much elegance and flair-is something I deeply respect and aspire to. You've taught me the importance of setting boundaries, living life on my own terms, and prioritizing happiness. Those lessons have been transformative, and I'll carry them with me always.
